Good Morning Every one,

Dear Parents We hope you and the children are well and are keeping safe and busy during this unprecedented time. We will continue to post a few new suggestions every day at 8:30 for as long as is required. During this time with the children, we would advise keeping to a schedule or routine that best suits everyone in your family. Please bear in mind that there are no expectations for your child to follow full school routines whilst at home. Simply adjusting their usual weekend routines to include a few short sessions of learning time will help to keep them on track with learning. It is also important to include time away from screens, so please do build in activity breaks. We also recommend the following published guidance when planning walks or other activities outside the home. (Scroll down to find some suggestions for on-screen activities to do at home). Year Four Home Learning Blog

Things for you to try at home this week:

Real P.E (the programme we use for your twice weekly p.e lesson) now have a parent/home login for you to continue being active at home.

real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity. This programme is also great for family play and fun.

It also includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance provided for both programmes (starting from next week) in addition to an option to choose your own themes and activities.

There are so many benefits to being active, not only to our physical wellbeing but also to our emotional and mental health, especially in such testing times for all of us. We hope that the ideas help support you and your family to stay fit and healthy in the coming months. Here are the details to access real PE at home:

Homelearning – Week 23rd March 2020

Good morning all,

While we have our little, spikey visitor around and are required to stay at home, which is for everyone’s best, let’s not pull each-other’s hair out, but establish a routine that is as close to normal life as possible.

To avoid a classblog littered with thousands of messages from us, we will try to keep things as clear and straight forward as possible. Firstly, we will upload a weekly timetable which you can follow as closely as you wish. Then, for each lesson, we will upload a short instruction/overview and then a task-sheet. This does not have to be printed, but can be answered on paper or on the notepad from class-dojo which can then be submitted to us.

Class-Dojo: This morning, we are inviting all parents up to Class-Dojo which makes communication easier and quicker, allows children to build up a portfolio and enables us to see what the children have done as they can upload documents, pictures and videos. Class-Dojo conforms with GDPR regulations and is perfectly safe (closed circle of participants in a class). It works as follows:

  1. Download the ClassDojo app.
  2. Open app and tap ‘Parent’ to create a parent account.
  3. Enter name, email & create a password.
  4. Tap ‘Add child (+)’ and use this code: … (we will text the code to you / class-dojo will send you  a link with instructions within the next 30mins)

Any questions, please just ask using Class-Dojo or our email address: howardyear5@gmail.com. Please only use this for relevant correspondences. We will endeavor to respond within 24 hours.

Daily PE routines are essential (we have not timetabled them – sorry). Here is the homelearning link of the programme that we are using. Just click on the link and log in. Then, on the top left-hand side is a menu called Dashboard, simply click on it and choose Real Play where another field/button called Home appears. After clicking on it, you may choose any theme/topic. We will leave this for you to explore and choose rather than dictating which one to do.

The website address is: home.jasmineactive.com
Parent email: parent@howardprim-1.com
Password: howardprim

Please bare with us this morning, as we are trying to organise the day and week. By 1pm, today’s Math, English and Art should be up.

Kind regards,

The Year 5 team
