London Bridge news –
Due to SATs week, we shall be relocating to the music room for our morning lessons. Children may still place their coats and school bags in our normal cloakroom but be in the music room, promptly, for the register to be taken at 9am.

Maths – This week in maths, we shall be learning the following:
two way tables, timetables and perimeter of shapes.
English – We shall be finishing off our biography unit by choosing an ‘inspirational woman’ to focus on. In our SPAG sessions we shall be looking at the spelling rule of words ending in -cious and -tious. As with our previous learning through this unit, Cannon Street Class will be taught by Miss Blackford and London Bridge Class will be taught by Mr Grundey.
Computing – We shall be finishing up typing and designing our travel brochures.
PE -There is no swimming this week..
RE –We shall starting our new unit with Mrs Forde, Judaism.
French – We shall be continuing to look at the unit of clothes!
Science – Continuing with forces, we shall be looking at gravity and Isaac Newton.
There will be no Soundstart sessions this week.
Reading – We have started our new class text, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll this week.

We will continue learning about Katie – a cheeky adventurous character who jumps into paintings by reading the Katie series of books by James Mayhew especially Katie’s Picture Show.

Maths
Children will recap on how to add numbers using a range of resources and pictorially represent their working. Children will apply their learning to solve problems. Children will also continue their learning about measures especially measuring length using metres and centimetres.
Science
Children will observe seasonal changes ‘Spring’ and describe weather patterns and understand how day length varies. They will also continue learning about the names of common flowers and plants including deciduous and evergreen trees. Children will also plan, write and edit a non chronological report about Spring.
Geography
Children will name, locate and identify characteristics of the 4 countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom and its surrounding seas on Maps-Atlas work.
P.E
We will be exploring movement actions with control. We will also continue gymnastics- Children will be learning to travel, balance and sequence movements.
PSHE
SEAL- Good to be me. Children will be thinking about people in their circle of friendship. They will also explore a range of feelings during Circle time.
Art
Children will be learning about primary and secondary colours.
R.E
We will be looking at Hinduism – Authority and worship.

The children really enjoyed watching the ducklings hatch and grow over the last two weeks. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to them on Friday as they had to return to the farm in Norfolk. This week we continue with our Caring for Animals topic focusing on Minibeasts for the next two weeks. This week we explore the world of spiders. If anyone has any pet spiders at home, please let us know.
Please don’t forget to fill out a WOW card to share important moments you have with your child at home. We would love to add more cards to our WOW wall.
Also, please remember to check the weather each day and dress your child appropriately for each day.

Week Beginning 13th May 2019
In Waterloo Class this week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will continue our work on time. We will learn to tell the time using 24 hour clock and to find the duration of events.
- In English we will write diary entries based on Boudica’s Army by Helen Mckay.
- In science we create a presentation based on the findings of our investigation.
- In topic time we will continue learning about the Romans and will visit the Museum of London and London Amphitheatre.
- In PE we will work on our skills in rounders and gymnastics each Tuesday and Friday. Unfortunately the extra basketball sessions mentioned last week will not now take place.

We will be continuing with our work on Tuesday David Weisner this week. We will be looking at the key features of a police report, planning a whole class report and then planning an individual report.
Maths
We will be completing our learning on measures before moving on to revision of other units. In preparation for the SATs we will be recapping calculating strategies and revisiting time and money.
Art
We have been looking at hot and cold colours and will be exploring the artist Khandinsky this half term.
Geography
We will be using atlases to look at the countries, capital cities and seas in the United Kingdom.
Science
Our new topic is all about animals and habitats. We will be looking at things that are living, non-living and have never lived. Over the half term we will also be exploring a range of habitats including: the rainforest, desert and ocean We will be looking at how humans keep healthy as part of this unit.
PE
We are going to be making the most of the good weather this term. We will be doing ball skills with tennis/ basketball and skipping.

Year four Blog Week Beginning 13th May 2019
Thank you so much your generous donations of cakes and biscuits for our Wear It Wild event organised by Lucy, Ryan, Emiliana and Leen. The event was incredibly successful and year four made at least £170, an amazing feat!

We will be continuing with our work on Tuesday David Weisner with a focus on drama, asking questions and understanding police reports.
Maths
We will be moving onto measures. This week we will be covering the following objectives:
- Comparing mass in kilograms.
- Comparing capacity (ml/ litres)
- Understanding millilitres
- Understanding litres
- Understanding temperature.
The key concepts the children need to know are that grams are greater than kilgrams, litres are greater than mililitres and the higher the number, the higher the temperature.
Reading scales in 2s, 5s and 10s when every number is given or there are missing numbers. You can help your child develop confidence with reading scales by baking a cake at home!
Art
