Key Information:

  • A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
  • Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)

  • In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.

We hope that you all have a fantastic, well-deserved break. It is hard to believe that we are almost ready to begin our final term in Year 4! Congratulation to all those children who earned their silver and bronze attendance medals today.

Our key learning objectives for our first week back will be as follows.

Maths: we will be reviewing our understanding of the place value of 4 digit numbers including x10 x100 and dividing by 10 and 100

Reading- This term we will be reading Where the Forest Meets the Sea by Jeannie Baker and The Vanishing Rainforest by Richard Platt and Rupert Van Wyk

Writing- we will be focusing on discussion and persuasion writing..

SPaG- our spelling focus will be sion words and  extending the range of conjunctions and types of sentences.

Science- Our science topic this term is Electricity.

We will be beginning our Rainforest topic covering Geography, P.E, Music, P.S.H.E and Art.

 

Southwark News Week Beginning 27.3.17

This week we will be focusing on:

Maths-We will be returning to formal methods of multiplication and division. Remember it is a year 4 objective to know all the multiplication and division facts to 12×12.

The class have enjoyed using the following website, playing bingo to practice x10 x100. Please encourage your child to play this game and explain how they got their answers.

English-We will be continuing our poetry unit focusing on figurative language.

We have been using a good website to practice grammar and spelling. Please encourage your child to have a go at this at home. Our recent learning has included plurals, apostrophes of possession, antonyms and synonyms.

Science-We will be finishing our solids, Liquids and Gases topic with an assessment and review session.

Topic-We will be completing our unit on Ancient Egyptians and getting prepared to begin learning about Rainforests and Electricity.

PE-We will be finishing our gymnastics unit and playing line ball.

Class Successes

Logan, Malakai and Mona all received merit cards this week for improving their core strength and body tension skills.
