Recommended reading books for Year 3:

Best Books for Year 3 | Ages 7-8 | BooksForTopics

Expertly selected books for 7 and 8 year old children (lovereading4kids.co.uk)

Reading

Children are asked to read at home on a daily basis and their book should be brought to school each day. It is helpful if parents can comment regularly in their child’s Reading Record, particularly when their child has finished their book. Children are responsible for changing and selecting their own books in the morning.

Homework

Children will be given homework each Friday to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Children are also asked to learn spellings and times tables at home. They are responsible for recording their homework in their homework diary.

Other

Children are asked to bring to school a water bottle. They should have a waterproof coat when it is raining or the forecast is for rain.

Week Beginning 3rd January 2018

January 4, 2018

In Waterloo Bridge Class we are looking forward to our new topic which is called Active Planet. Our learning this week will be as follows;

  • In mathematics we will work on place value. We will estimate the position of numbers on a number line and find 10 more or less than a given number. We will use these skills to solve problems.
  • In English we will look at the feature of a non-chronological report. We will create spider diagrams of facts about volcanoes for inclusion in our reports.
  • In topic time we will introduce our new topic and identify what we want to learn this half term.
  • In RE we start a new area of learning called Why Should we Care? We will identify the things we would include in a perfect world and what we would admit.
  • In PE we will work on our gymnastics skills.
