Welcome all Year 6 parents and pupils.

  I am Miss Mayley, the Year 6 class teacher, and our TA is Mrs Thambiayah.

Week beginning 10th July

July 5, 2017

This is a very busy week for the children.

Tuesday 11th July-5 of the Year 6 children have an opportunity to Cycle at Herne Hill Velodrome.  It is one of the oldest cycling tracks in the world as it was built in 1891.

Friday 14th-The Year 6 children will be running the Reception classes Sports Day in the morning.  They have worked hard to design their activities and have been developing their Sports Leaders training in Year 5 to help them run a successful Sports Day.

In amongst all of this, the children will still be participating in a fairly normal timetable.

Maths-We will be looking reflecting and translating shapes

Reading-We will be continuing to read our new class book-Kensuke’s Kingdom.  We are also reading Samuel Squeaks from Fiction Express.

Writing-We will be looking at the poem The Highwayman for the next couple of weeks.  This week we will be looking at the figurative language used.

Topic-We are continuing our topic The Holiday which has a focus on different countries (linked to Geography)

PE-We will be creating and running activities as Sports Leaders for the Reception Sports Day.  We will also be developing our Kwick Cricket skills.

PSHE-We have a focus this week on SRE and how our bodies change.

 

Additional Information

Please also make sure your child has informed us when they will be out of school as  they are visiting their new school.

Year 6 Leavers Party reply slips need to be in by Friday 7th July please.

Maths-We will be looking at reading co-ordinates and translating shapes and moving onto recording this algebraically.

Reading-We will be continuing to read our new class book-Kensuke’s Kingdom

Additional Information

Well done to all those children who took part at Croydon Arena Athletics.  They represented the school really well.  Next week, some of the year 6 and 5 girls will be representing the school in a netball match at The Minster (previously known as Parish Church).

Please also make sure your child has informed us when they will be out of school as  they are visiting their new school.

Watch out for the Year 6 Leavers Party letter which should be out by the end of this week.  Any help with food donation would be greatly received.
