Welcome back to school!

I  am quite excited about working with Grosvenor Class and Miss Dale  over the next two terms and I look forward to meeting all of you over the next few days.

We hope you enjoyed your Easter holidays.  Please note that school starts again on Monday 16th April at 8.50am.

We wish you a pleasant Summer 1 Term with us.

SUMMER TERM 1 TOPIC: Caring for Animals

LITERACY:

Book Focus: The Ugly Duckling

Just when you thought Easter was behind you and talk of eggs was a thing of the past, we have gone ‘eggstremely’ crazy about eggs this term. The children will be learning about different animals that lay eggs and we are incredibly ‘eggcited’ about the arrival, early next week, of some mysterious eggs, which we hope will successfully hatch into some kind of animal. We will have to wait and see what might hatch……..

Phonics: Group Phonics will resume this week, reviewing previous sounds and focusing on speedy blending of cvc and multisyllabic words eg sand/pit   or chim/pan/zee

MATHS: This week we will focus on counting by grouping objects and step counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10

PE: Skills for team games . This week the children will learn skills for ball games. Please  start to send in PE kits as the class will have PE on Friday morning. As the weather improves the children may wear shorts for PE so please ensure these are in their PE kits. [/dropshadowbox]

• Please check your child’s bookbag regularly for letters

• Please do not leave letters or money in your child’s book bag. Once completed, please hand any letters or reply slips back to the class teacher or the school office

• Please ensure that your child does not bring in any toys from home into school

• Please take note of the weather report to ensure that your child comes into school appropriately dressed for the weather as the Spring weather can be very unpredictable. [/dropshadowbox]

Happy Easter

Thank you to the parents who came to our coffee afternoon to meet Miss Kowalczyk, who will be the teacher of Grosvenor Class in the summer term. I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Miss Kowalczyk  (also known as Miss K to the children) back to Howard Primary School and to thank Miss Benoit for her work with the class during the Spring 2 term.

Please note we have not set any homework for the holiday. However, you may refer to the videos posted on this blog to consolidate your child’s learning. Previous video posts can be found by scrolling down and clicking on the previous pages.

Wishing you a well-deserved Easter break.

Kind regards,

Miss Pillay [/dropshadowbox]
