SUMMER TERM 1 TOPIC: Caring for Animals

LITERACY:

Book Focus: The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

The children really enjoyed this book so we have decided to continue with it for another week. We have been using actions to recall and retell the story with the aim of the children writing their own version of the story.

Phonics: Group Phonics will focus on reviewing previous sounds and speedy blending of cvc and multisyllabic words

MATHS: This week the children will be learning to use quantities and objects to add and subtract two single-digit numbers and to count on or back to find the answer

Minibeasts

Take a walk with your adult around a garden, park or outside area. Which minibeasts will you find? Try looking under plant pots or stones. Can you draw pictures of 3 different minibeasts and write a few facts about each?

Thank you very much for all your donations of baked treats and a special thank you to the parent volunteers who helped at the bake sale of Friday.

We managed to raise £122.80 on Friday, bringing our fundraising grand total  to £396.30.

Thank you very much Reception Parents 2017/18. We couldn’t have done it without your amazing support!

The children await the arrival of some very hungry caterpillars of their own as we get to grow some eggs of a very different kind over the next few weeks.

This week the children we will practise counting on and back within 2o in steps of 1, 2, 5 and 10. The children will also explore the concepts of halving and doubling a number
