Key Information:

  • A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
  • Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)
  • Spellings will be learnt at school and tested on Mondays. Please click on link: school-links-spellingjournalyear4southwark-1
  • In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.

Year Four Weekly Blog- Week Beginning 16th December 2019

A huge thank you to those parents and children who supported our school fayre this year. We would also like to say that the behaviour was impeccable on our very exciting visit to Fairfield Halls Pantomime of Cinderella this week.

The week ahead:

Rehearsals at St Andrew’s church will take place on Monday for the final performance on Tuesday 17th December 2019. We look forward to seeing you there if you can.

Maths-We will be consolidating our learning this term with a progress check for arithmetic, problem solving and reasoning.

English-We will be completing our focus on Reading, exploring inference and prediction through different genres of text.

Topic-We will be exploring the journeys in R.E.

Class parties will take place on Wednesday afternoon. Children can wear their own clothes for the whole day.

Year Four Weekly Blog Week Beginning 9th December 2019

Our Learning This Week:

English-Reading Focus. We will be looking at different styles of text and answering prediction and infer style questions

Maths-We will be looking at 3-d shape, exploring the number 6 and tessellation.

Topic-We will be completing our fascinating topic on Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.

Wednesday 11th December Pantomime Visit

11th December-Year Four Trip to the Pantomime

11th December-Year Four Zumba group performing at Fairfield halls

13th December-Christmas lunch and Christmas jumper day

16th December Christmas rehearsal (Children will be visiting St Andrew’s Church-no audience)

17th December Christmas Performance (yr 3 and 4 only) 10.15am at St Andrew’s parents welcome

18th December Christmas party-Year 4 have our class parties together Millennium please bring in sweet treats for the party. Southwark class please bring a savoury treat. Please be aware we have several severe nut allergies this year and food without label or stating may contain nuts cannot be used and will be sent home.
