Guided Reading

Read chapter one of the text-Osiris or listen on this YouTube clip and complete the activities below during the week. Next week we will be looking at chapter two. Remember if you are working below the year four curriculum you have been set reading books on Reading Planet that are for your ability. This week I would like you to think about the design process by answering the following questions:

What materials will I need?

Which tools will I need?

Which tools and materials do I have available to me at home?

What do I want my final mask to look like?

What steps will I make to achieve my final design (instructions)

Use the first sheet of this comprehension to find out about an ancient Egyptian god or goddess. Then use the Egypt’s Got Talent sheet or a piece of paper to record all you have found out about your god or goddess to convince the judges yours is best. Could you use this god or goddess as the one you use for your mask design? If you want something extra to do you could do one of the comprehensions on the fact sheet to test your understanding.

Time for a break- Feeling a bit stiff and frustrated? I tried doing some Tai Chi with Thomas to relax and stretch out. It feels a little strange and silly at first but once you get used to the movements it is really quite calming (we muted the video and played our own relaxing music choices)
