Key Information:

  • A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
  • Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)

  • In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.

To mark the beginning of anti bullying week children may come to school on Monday wearing odd socks. Please see a link to a website explaining why. We will be selecting children to be year four Bully Busters to assist in preventing bullying too this week as well as doing lots of activities talking about what bullying is and how we can all play a part in stopping bullying. This week our learning be as follow;

  • In English we will continue our work based on Arthur and the Golden Rope by Todd Staunton linked to our History learning about Vikings. This week we will be planning and writing a travel guide to Iceland. If you want to read along at home see the following video link

  • In Maths we will learn to multiple and divide by 10 and 100 as well as by 1 and 0.
  • In History we will learn about the Vikings. This week we will be designing Viking warrior shields like these:

  • In Science we will continue our work on teeth and digestion.
  • In RE we will have a special Zoom assembly learning about how Hindus celebrate Diwali. We will also continue our unit Why do you judge me? learning about discrimination.

PE will be on Monday and Friday.

 

 

Year Four Week Beginning 19th October 2020

It has been lovely to see children’s homework submitted on the site. Remote learning is available for any child who needs to self isolate. This week our learning will be as follows;

  • In English we will be doing learning to write explanation texts based around How to Draw Horrid Henry. This will link to our Zones of Regulation whole school approach to dealing with emotions.
  • In Maths we will be subtracting and adding 4 digit numbers using efficient methods.
  • In Science we will be investigating the water cycle.
  • In History, we will be learning about the Viking invasion of Lindisfarne.
  • In PE we will continue to develop our basketball skills on Wednesday and starting a Pilates/yoga unit on Mondays.  Children should come to school in PE kit on those days.

Remember school closes for half term on Thursday 22nd at 3pm.
