Recommended reading books for Year 3:

Best Books for Year 3 | Ages 7-8 | BooksForTopics

Expertly selected books for 7 and 8 year old children (lovereading4kids.co.uk)

Reading

Children are asked to read at home on a daily basis and their book should be brought to school each day. It is helpful if parents can comment regularly in their child’s Reading Record, particularly when their child has finished their book. Children are responsible for changing and selecting their own books in the morning.

Homework

Children will be given homework each Friday to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Children are also asked to learn spellings and times tables at home. They are responsible for recording their homework in their homework diary.

Other

Children are asked to bring to school a water bottle. They should have a waterproof coat when it is raining or the forecast is for rain.

English and Topic work

For the rest of this week children should continue working on their newspaper article and their project on the Romans. They should also make sure that they read regularly at home.

Maths

1. To continue their learning on geometry in maths children should watch the following clip on angles.

They should then make a right angle finder. This can be done by drawing and cutting out a circle, folding it into quarters and cutting out a quarter; or by using the link below.

Children can then make a list of objects with right angles, acute angles and obtuse angles.

2. Below is a fun game to help your child with their learning on position and direction. Your child could print out and play the game (if you have access to a printer) or have a go at making a similar game themselves.

Physical Activity

During P.E lessons at school we follow a programme called Real P.E. They have now released a website so children can access this from home.

Real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance provided in addition to an option to choose your own themes and activities.

There are so many benefits to being active, not only to our physical wellbeing but also to our emotional and mental health, especially in such testing times for all of us. We hope that the ideas help support you and your family to stay fit and healthy in the coming months. Here are the details to access real PE at home:

The website address is: home.jasmineactive.com

We are currently issuing invitations to join our class on Class Dojo. This will allow children to upload documents and photographs of their work. We would love to see photographs of the children’s newspaper articles and flags.

Don’t forget to clear any homework allocated to you on Mathletics. This will allow you to go on the games section of the website and access Live Mathletics and Rainforest Maths.
