Maths:

We shall be starting our new unit of multiplication and division. We shall be looking at multiples, factors and prime numbers. We shall be creating visual links between our objectives.

English:

We will be continuing our topic, Film Reviews. Together, we will be identifying and evaluating the key features of a film review. We shall be using the Beauty and the Beast  to learn about the planning, writing and editing process of writing a film review.

RE: We will further explore Hinduism – beliefs and Gods.

PE: We will have the chance to develop our Benchball skills as well as gymnastics on Thursdays.

ICT: We shall be continuing to explore a very common problem, Video game addiction.

Music: The children will secure and extend their Guitar and Piano skills during Soundstart (A-Minor, G-Major …).

PSHE: We shall be starting our Apple’s Friends programme this week.

Please continue to keep your Children’s University passport up to date with activities you did over half term.

The Children’s University is an amazing programme that encourages your child to take part in a wide variety of activities both in and outside school that will enrich their lives and give them access to activities they wouldn’t usually have.  We would like as many children in Year 5 as possible to purchase a Children’s University passport (£2 from Miss Handley) and start collecting stamps.  Clubs that they participate in both in school and outside school will stamp their passport and once they have received 30 stamps they will be recognised at a formal graduation ceremony.  Children in the past have met the Mayor of Croydon at this event and other important people within the community.

It is a great way for children to develop more than just academic skills and be recognised for all the extra-curricular activities that they do.  This can include sports clubs, drama clubs, arts and crafts clubs, brownies, scouts, volunteering with the Lily Trust at school, supporting the school with whole community projects and many more.
