Home work
Your child would have brought home a homework book with two sets of work. A poster about ‘Croydon’- Geography topic, spellings to learn (related to their phonic phase) and words to read and decode (these are non words or alien words to support children’s phonic skills).
Mathletics homework has also been set according to our Maths learning in class. The log in cards are at the back of your child’s reading records. Certificates will be handed out weekly in our Year Group Assembly.
Homework need to be returned on Wednesday 3rd September.
Our learning this week…
English
Children will continue to write and edit ‘The Goldilocks and the Three Bears’ story.We will be introducing a new text ‘Lila and the secret rain’. They will be looking at the front cover and predict about the story.
Maths
We will be counting in 2’s forwards and backwards. Children will introduce additions with part part-whole model. We will also recap adding two groups of objects together. By Friday we will start wring number sentences.

Science
We are learning about food groups and healthy lifestyles. This week children will be evaluating their own healthy salad.
PSHE
Children will be learning about ‘ circle time’ and will write what they are good at and what they need to develop further.
R.E
Children will begin to understand what they are thankful for and discuss it.
P.E.
We will continue our fun P.E. session and develop balance skills as well as listening skills and travelling in different ways and develop spatial awareness.
Art
We continue our learning using line and tone and develop our skills to draw a self – portrait.
Music
We will learn a range of body and harvest songs.

Reading Books
All children would have brought a reading book appropriate to their reading ability. Please read with your child and write a comment or sign or draw a smiley. Books will only be changed if this is done by the parent/carer. We value your support as it is essential to enable your child to practise their skills and make progress.

Children will continue to retell the story as well as sequence all the key events of ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. They will then be authors and write and edit their stories.
Maths
We will continue to count, recognise and order numbers especially teen numbers. Children will be identifying 1 more / 1 less than given number. They will also be developing and extending their mathematical vocabulary – more than /less than, bigger than / smaller than / in between. They will use ten frames and number lines to support their learning.
