Welcome back after the Spring/Easter home-cation. We hope you and the children managed to fit in some fun activities and lots of rest during the last 2 weeks.

By now, most of you have signed up to Class Dojo and are enjoying interacting with Reception staff about your child’s learning. We are aware that some of you may be experiencing difficulties locating your child’s portfolio on Class Dojo. Please don’t worry, we will be getting in touch with you over the coming weeks to help with some of the minor technical issues you may be experiencing. Please use the messaging function on the app to let us know if you are still experiencing difficulties.

Also, for those who prefer to see information about learning activities on the blog, we will continue to post a weekly blog every Monday with a list of new and old links to useful learning resources.

We hope that you have all now settled into a comfortable family routine for learning and now that the school term has started again, we will continue with home learning activities for the children. Please remember that we do not expect you to do all of the activities suggested. They are there if you need them and we ask that you do what is manageable within your own family circumstances.

Don’t forget to check in on Class Dojo for a welcome message and learning video from Miss Pillay at 9.00am on Monday 20th April.

Kind Regards.

Every family has different needs, So, please plan your week according to your  own family’s needs.

Here are some tips to consider when organising homelearning :

  • Decide, as a family, what are your daily weekday priorities
  • Decide on a set weekday wake up time for the children. Remember to distinguish between weekdays and weekend routines
  • Get the children settled into their getting reading for learning routines, use the poster they made to remind them eg, get out of bed, help to make up the bed, brush your teeth, etc
  • Start your homelearning by checking off the previous day on the calendar they made and talking about today’s date and weather
  • Watch or read  the daily morning Class Story on Class Dojo
  • You can decide which activity to do first, making sure to allow for breaks and free time. Spread the activities over the week.
  • Agree a suitable lunchtime with your child with some free playtime afterwards but remind them to return for afternoon learning if that is what you have decided as a family. If not, try to schedule some physical activities or go out for your daily walk
  • Afternoon learning could include a hands on project or fun challenge.
  • Don’t forget to return to Class Dojo at 3.20 every weekday for a storytime.
  • Use the links below to decide which activities you will do each day, try to include a little bit of maths, reading, writing activities throughout the week.
  • Most importantly, don’t set yourself too many activities, try to spread the activities across the week and if you or your children become frustrated, the best advice is to take a break and do something you all enjoy. You can always return to activities later. Remember, there are no deadlines or time limits on activities.
