ARTS WEEK 2022 – Frida Kahlo

LITERACY:Focus Book: Frida Kahlo and her Animalitos by Monica Brown

MATHS: This week we will be reviewing aspects related to Pattern in Number:

• understanding of equivalence
• distribute collections of objects into equal and unequal groups
• sort models into those that contain odd and those that contain even numbers o

UW: To use artforms to demonstrate an understanding of different religious festivals explored and discussed this year. The children will create sculptures to demonstrate what they have learnt.

EAD: To explore the work of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and create a self portrait in the style of Kahlo. The children will also be immersed in music activities related to this theme during the week

PE:  reception Sports Day on Thursday 7th July from 10.30 – 11.30. The Friday PE lesson will focus on creative movement and dance related to Mexican culture in celebration of Arts week.

MATHS: This week we will be reviewing aspects related to :

• Measuring weight
• 3D shapes
• Counting: exploring big numbers, counting forwards and backwards from a given number

UW: Changing Me: To know about the different things we are able to do at each stage of human growth eg when we are at the  baby, toddler, child, teenager, adult or elderly stages.

EAD: To explore the work of the artist Vincent van Gogh

PE:  Athletics: Practice and preparation for the events of Sports Day which will take place next week on Thursday 7th July
