Southwark Class News Wk Beginning 8th May

Week beginning 8th May 2018.

In Maths this week, we will complete our work on decimals- ordering numbers with tenths and hundredths as well as finding the effect of dividing 1 and 2 digit numbers by 10 and 100. This week’s homework is set on Mathletics and your child’s password and user name can be found in their homework diary.

In English, we will be beginning to plan and write our suspense story based on the adventures of our main character Lila from The Firework Maker’s Daughter by Phillip Pullman.

In Topic, we will learn about Ancient Egyptian mummification and the afterlife and will begin our cross curricular design and technology lessons. In groups, we will be designing and making a structure designed to protect an Egyptian mummy from rain and buried in sand for thousands of years (over a weekend) We will be exploring how different joining and construction methods help to give strength to the structure. For this topic we will be using wood. If you have any left over small pieces of wood that you would be willing to donate we would very much appreciate it.

Thank you for your continued support.

Congratulations this week go to Harley, Tyray, Adrian B and the whole class for achieving merit cards as well as to our readers of the week-Anomiga and Limar.
