All the children enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot about life in the past and can now discuss how it is different to modern times,

It is linked to history and children will begin to understand changes within living memory as well as develop their knowledge and understanding of old toys and household objects. Children will handle different artefacts and make comparisons between old and modern toys / objects.[/dropshadowbox]

English

Children will continue their learning about poems and this week focus on ‘The Magic Box’ by Kit Wright. Children will edit and publish their own poems.

They will also be introduced to a new focus text, ‘Lima’s Red Hot Chilli’.

 

Maths

Children will continue to make amounts using different coins. They will also revisit Time.

History

Children will continue to develop their knowledge and understanding about changes within living memory. They will use what they have learnt from the interactive workshop of toys and household objects from the past – e.g. mangle, chamber pot, carpet beater, teddy bears, wooden toys… to make comparisons to modern life.

Science

Children will observe seasonal changes ‘Summer’ and describe weather patterns, plants, animals and understand how day length varies as well as leisure activities.

Geography

Children will name, locate and identify characteristics of the 4 countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom and its surrounding seas on Maps-Atlas work.

Art

Children will use their understanding of the work of Andy Goldsworthy to make their own nature sculptures. Please send in twigs, shells, leaves, flowers and anything natural.

DT

Children will design and make their own puppet as well as evaluate their work. They will learn to use a range of media and develop skills.

P.E

Children will continue to develop their skipping skills. The will develop an understanding of safe landing while jumping and skipping. They will also master core strength with a range of balances.

PSHE

Children will learn to talk about their feelings. Discussion about relationships and changes.

R.E

Children will develop their understanding about the basic principles of Islam.
