On Tuesday the children will begin to understand the structure of a cinquain poem.

On Thursday the children will be thinking about powerful and precise words to describe Autumn.

Children will start with a sentence – red leaves falling and they will be encouraged to up level it.

Red – is there a better hue that would represent the colour?

Falling – how do leaves fall? They twirl, sprinkle, spiral …

Consider using surprising word combinations e.g. leaves dancing, winds shrieking/whispering
