Dear Parents

Thank you for coming to see our musical performance last week. We are incredibly proud of all our Reception children and it was a joy to see how they have grown in confidence over the last three months.

As we approach the end of the Autumn term, we would like to wish you and your families a very joyous festive season. The children will celebrate with a class Christmas party on Wednesday afternoon. Please send in requested party treats by Wednesday morning. The children may wear their own clothes (party clothes) to school on Wednesday.

The last day of school for children is Thursday 20th December. The children must wear their regular school uniform on this day.

Kind Regards

Reception Team

AUTUMN TERM TOPIC: Light and Dark

Theme: Christmas

LITERACY:

Book Focus: The Stick Man by Julia Donaldson

Phonics: The children’s Phonics learning has now been assessed and next term they will work in smaller groups during Phonics lessons. This is to ensure that they learn phonic skills at the pace at which they are making progress. We will provide further information about this next term.

Please help your child by listening to them as they practise reading sounds and words using their phonic knowledge. Help them to point under each sound as they say each sound, then sweep their finger across the word as they blend to decode the word.

High frequency word lists: Next term we will begin sending home our ‘Animal’ word lists.

MATHS: This week we will revise concepts about number, shape and measure through our Christmas related activities. [/dropshadowbox]
