Welcome back to school! We hope you enjoyed your Easter holidays. School starts again on Tuesday 23rd April at 8.50am.

We are hoping for more gloriously sunny weather this term so please take note of the weather report daily to ensure that your child comes to school appropriately dressed for the weather.

The children may wear their Summer uniforms when the weather is warmer – summer dresses or school shorts. Also, please ensure your child has a suitable sunhat or cap and sunscreen must be applied before they arrive at school.

Of course, don’t forget about those rainy days too.

Kind Regards

Reception Team [/dropshadowbox]

SUMMER TERM 1 TOPIC: Caring for Animals

LITERACY: Book Focus: Non- Fiction books about Animals

Just when you thought Easter was behind you and talk of eggs was a thing of the past, we have gone ‘eggstremely’ crazy about eggs this term. The children will be learning about different animals that lay eggs and we are incredibly ‘eggcited’ about the arrival, early next week, of some mysterious eggs, which we hope will successfully hatch into some kind of animal. We will have to wait and see….

Phonics: Group Phonics will resume this week, reviewing previous sounds and focusing on speedy blending of cvc and multisyllabic words

MATHS: This week we will focus on counting by grouping objects and step counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10

PE: Please send in PE kits. As the weather improves the children may wear shorts for PE so please ensure these are in their PE kits. [/dropshadowbox]

Thank you for attending Parent’s Evening last week. I’m sure you are equally pleased with the tremendous progress the children have made since joining us in September. We are incredibly proud of all their achievements.

As this is our final week of term, please ensure that all homework books are returned by Wednesday and that reading books are sent in on group days to ensure your child has their book changed before the Easter break.

Please note the due date for final payments for our trip to Godstone Farm is Thursday 4th April .

Please do not make any travel arrangements yet. You will be notified in due course about a meeting to discuss our plans for the trip.

Kind Regards,

Reception Team[/dropshadowbox]
