THIS WEEK’S LEARNING

LITERACY:

  • Core Text: Marvelous me, Inside and Out by Lisa Bullard
  • Phonics: To learn a new letter sound each day as follows: /d/ /t/ /i/ /n/ /p/ Please check your child’s bookbag each day for new letter formation practise sheet. Please keep these at home and continue to practise letter formation with your child.

MATHS:

  • Number sense: To learn and sing a selection of number songs and rhymes
  • Maths stories: To listen to a selection of stories with a mathematical focus

PSED: To talk about the concept of emotions and explore the feelings in the Blue Zone eg sad, unhappy, tired, etc

EAD: To explore different types of lines (straight, curved, zig zag) to create self portraits.

UW: To encourage talk about themselves and the things they are interested in.

PE: To develop spatial awareness: how to negotiate large and small areas carefully and to find their own safe space in a large open area.

We are very pleased to welcome you and your child to Howard Primary School  from Tuesday 20th September.

This week the children will begin their daily Phonics lessons. Each day they will bring home a practise sheet to keep. Their first PE lesson will be on Friday.  If you have not yet sent in your child’s PE kit, please do so before Friday.

For all matters pertaining to attendance, for example if your child requires leave for appointments or if they are unwell and cannot attend school, please contact the school office by calling 02086884216 or leaving a message on the answerphone. If you have questions about your child’s immediate needs, welfare or learning, please email the class teachers directly at reception@howard.croydon.sch.uk.

Your first parent information meeting  will be held on Thursday, 22nd September at 9.00am. This meeting will provide you with further information about how your child will be learning during their year in Reception.
