THIS WEEK’S LEARNING

LITERACY:

  • Other Texts: Colors of Us by Karen Katz and Frida Kahlo and her Animalitos by Monica Brown
  • Phonics: To learn a new letter sound each day as follows: /r/ /j/ /v/ /y/ /w/ Please check your child’s bookbag each day for new letter formation practise sheet. Please check Google Classroom for  how to hand in completed homework.

MATHS:

Mastering Number: This week the children will:

  • hear and join in with the counting sequence to 5, including using songs and rhymes
  • see that counting is useful because it tells us ‘how many’
  • see that the last number in the count tells us ‘how many altogether’ (cardinality)
  • practise counting each object, action or sound once and only once.
  • experience counting sounds.
  • record the results of their count.

EAD: Artist study of Frida Kahlo. The children will create their own self-portraits, exploring colour mixing to create different shades.

CAL & UW: To explore a map of the world and talk about where we live/where our families  come from/where we were born, and the different languages we speak.

PE: To develop spatial awareness:  Move with confidence, travel in different ways with control and co-ordination.
