Millennium
Week Beginning 12th December
We have now reached the last week of term! This week our learning will be as follows;
- In English we will plan a story in the style of a Greek Myth before we create the myth in comic strip form.
- In Mathematics we will extend our learning using games and problem solving activities.
- In science we will finish our work on teeth and digestion.
- Our blocked foundation subject will be RE. We will learn about Christmas Journeys.
Southwark Class will have their last swimming lesson on Tuesday. Millennium Class will have PE on Tuesday and Friday.
On Thursday morning we will visit St Andrew’s Church to extend our RE learning.
We will watch an online Pantomime on Wednesday and have our Christmas party on Thursday.
Week Beginning 5th December
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will continue our work on multiplication and division.
- In English we will learn about the features of newspaper articles. We will then write our own newspaper article based on the story of Daedalus and Icarus.
- In science we will continue our work on teeth and digestion.
- Our blocked foundation subject will be Design and Technology. We will construct and evaluate our own packaging.
We would be grateful if children could bring in newspaper articles in time for Tuesday’s lesson.
Millennium Class will do PE on Tuesday and Friday. Southwark Class will swim on Tuesday and do PE on Thursday.
Week Beginning 28th November
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will learn to multiply and divide by 10 and 100.
- In English we will continue our work around Greek Myths by Marcia Williams. This week we will be exploring the myth of Daedalus and Icarus.
- In science we will continue or work on teeth and digestion.
- Our blocked foundation subject this week is Design and Technology. We will be evaluating packaging and looking at how it is made.
We would be grateful if children could bring empty packaging (such as cereal, tea bag or snack boxes) on Monday morning.
Our Winter Wonderland celebration is on Wednesday 14th December after school. This Friday we are having a mufti day. Children may wear their own clothes in exchange for bringing a donation for the Tombola stall.
Week Beginning 21st November
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will continue our work on multiplication and division.
- In English we will be continuing work around the myth of Heracles and the Twelve Tasks. We will learn about the features of a myth before writing our own myth.
- In science we will continue our work on teeth and digestion.
- Our blocked foundation subject is History. We will conclude our work on the Ancient Greeks.
Millennium Class will do PE on Tuesday and Friday and Southwark Class will swim on Tuesday and have PE on Thursday.
Week Beginning 14th November
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will work on our multiplication skills.
- In English we will continue work around Greek Myths by Marcia Williams but we will explore a new story from that book, The Twelve Tasks of Heracles. We will create our own comic strips based on the book.
- In science we will continue work around teeth and digestion.
- Our blocked foundation subject is History. We will learn about the Ancient Greeks.
Millennium Class will do PE on Tuesday and Friday. Southwark Class have swimming on Tuesday and PE on Friday.
Millennium Class will be taught by Miss Winser this week as Mrs Fallon has been called for Jury Service.
We look forward to our cinema visit on Wednesday. Please make sure that children are wearing comfortable shoes and have a waterproof coat or jacket.
Week Beginning 7th November
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will continue learning on perimeter.
- In English we will learn about the features of a letter and the plan and write a letter in role as Epimetheus from the myth of Pandora’s box.
- In science we will begin a new unit of work on teeth and digestion.
- In RHE we will learn about internet safety.
- Our blocked foundation subject is computing. We will develop our programming skills using Scratch to create an educational game.
Millennium will do PE on Tuesday and Friday and should come to school in PE kit on both of those days. Southwark Class will swim on Tuesday and do PE on Thursday.
Parents’ appointments will be during the week beginning 14th November. Parents of children in Southwark Class can book appointments using School Cloud. Mrs Fallon is on Jury service during the fortnight beginning 14th November. She will be able to see parents from 6pm on Wednesday 16th. There will be further opportunities to see her during the week beginning 28th November.
Week Beginning 31st October 2022

This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will be learning to measure perimeter.
- In English we will be begin a new unit of work based on Greek Myths by Marcia Williams. We will explore a graphic novel version of the myth of Pandora’s box and we will learn to sequence and summarise the story.
- In science we will be exploring pitch using the instruments the children have made at home over half term. They should bring their instruments to school by Wednesday morning.
- Our blocked foundation subject will be geography. We will be developing our map skills.
Millennium Class will swim on Tuesday and do PE on Friday. Southwark Class will do PE on Tuesday and Thursday.
Week Beginning 17th October
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will learn strategies for using the 9 times table.
- In English we will look at the poet Benjamin Zephaniah. We will look at figurative language, learn about the poet, study the poem Talking Turkeys and write our own poem. This will be part of our work in connection with Black History month
- In science we will conclude our work on sound.
- Our blocked subject this week will be computing. We will learn to create a wiki page on Ancient Greece.
Millennium Class will have their last swimming lesson before the Spring Term on Tuesday. and have PE on Friday. Southwark Class will do PE on Tuesday and Thursday. After the half term holiday Southwark Class will begin their swimming lessons.

This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will continue our work on column subtraction, estimation and checking our answers with inverses.
- In English we will look at the features of a diary entry before planning and writing an entry based on the Boy at the Back of the Class.
- In science we will continue our work on sound.
- In RHE we will think about the roles people play in the school community.
- Our blocked foundation subject will be history. We will begin work on the Ancient Greeks.
Millennium Class will swim on Tuesday and do PE on Friday. Southwark Class will have PE on Tuesday and Thursday.
Week Beginning 3rd October
This week our learning will be as follows;
- In mathematics we will continue our work on subtraction learning to subtract with exchanges and use inverses to check our work.
- In English we will continue with our work around the Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Rauf. We will write letters in role.
- In science we will continue our work on sound.
- Our blocked foundation subject is RE. We will continue our challenge unit “Why do we Judge me.” We will focus on Black history week and the experience of the Windrush generation.
Southwark Class will have PE on Thursday and Millennium Class will have swimming on Tuesday. For safety reasons it is important that jewelry (except simple stud earrings) is not worn on PE days.
We are looking forward to our visits to the Windrush Legacy Association this week. Southwark Class will visit on Tuesday and Millennium Class on Friday.
