English

Open the file to find instructions for what to do each day and all the sheets you will need. No need to print off the sheets.

This week we are looking at the stories about Ananse the Spider:

Day 1: Read the story of Ananse the Spider and complete the tasks: Day 1 Monday 27th April

Use the PowerPoint to remind you about clauses, conjunctions and verbsConjunctions Powerpoint with Audio – Day 1 or watch this video

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zwwp8mn/articles/zqk37p3

to help you if you need it.

Something easier: Write some sentences to describe Ananse the Spider using conjunctions like and, but, because or so.

Day 2: Today, read another Ananse story and try out the tasks; Day 2 Tuesday 28th April

We are still focusing on conjunctions in writing so the following PowerPoint may be useful; Conjunctions Powerpoint with Audio – Day 2

Something easier: Draw the story and add key sentences to your pictures.

Day 3: Looking at the Bird Illustration which is from another Ananse story, make up your own version of what you think the story would be (remembering to use conjunctions, fronted adverbial phrases and expanded noun phrases along with all key vocabulary)Day 3 Wednesday 29th April

Something easier: Draw your ideas and write sentences to describe them.

Day 4: Some seasonal poetry today! Read the poems, decide which is your favourite and answer some questions about it Day 4 Thursday 30th April

Something easier:Listen to these poems (a couple of my favourites!) and have a go at the activities. Try at least the first activity

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zb2k8xs

Day 5: Try reading today’s poem and try to memorise it to perform to your grown up. Compare it to your favourite from yesterday, think about which you prefer and why. Remember, always have a reason  as evidence for your answers! Day 5 Friday 1st May

Something easier: Have a go at writing an acrostic poem about spring and illustrate it.

History- It’s important as we learn about history to consider what it actually means to be a historian. If you want to think a bit more about the Egyptians this week, have a look at this PowerPoint to find out a little about them and write some descriptions of the people in the pictures at the end Egypt(1)
