Week beginning 8th May 2017

This week we will be focusing on:

Maths– We shall be focusing on how to accurately translate a shape across a grid and identify the shape’s new coordinates. We shall then be revising the formal written methods for addition and subtraction.

Reading- We shall be starting our new class read Skelling, by David Almond. We shall be completing a reading comprehension paper in class and going through techniques afterwards.

Writing- We shall be starting our new unit of letter writing. We shall be writing complaint letters this week and therefore we shall be focusing on the planning, writing and editing process to ensure we include all of the important features of a letter.

PE – Please make sure your child has their full swimming kit (including swimming hats for girls) for Tuesday.

RE – We shall be looking our new topic of Judaism.

Science – Mrs Adams will be exploring forces with London Bridge class.

Additional Information:

Reading passport challenge – Every child in the school has been given an exciting reading passport to complete. There are exciting prizes to be won. Please encourage your child to take ownership of their passport and strive to complete as many tasks as possible.

Purchasing a copy of Skellig – Should your child want to read along in class, copies of Skellig can be purchased from The Book People here.

Choir  – The choir is restarting, please see Mrs Hughes for a letter.

 

Key dates:

18th May – Whole class and individual photo day!

19th May – Non-uniform day. The Friends of Howard are asking each child to ‘bring a bottle’ in return for wearing their own clothes.
