On Friday the 15th December we have Christmas Jumper Day and children can wear their special jumpers if they want to. Its also traditional Christmas dinner day…Yum ! Yum!

English

We will be finishing off our focus text – The Lonely Beast. Children have done their story maps and will be writing and editing the story.

They will also be writing letters and invitations to continue developing their writing skills in  different genres.

Maths

Place value will be finished this week and we will be looking at the vocabulary of measures – length ( tall, short, taller than, shorter than, tallest, shortest, long, longer than, longest), wide, narrow, weight –  heavy, light, heavier than, lighter than, heaviest, lightest.

R.E

We will be exploring how Christians celebrate Christmas and read the story of the birth of Jesus. Our Christmas play is closely linked to the story.

Science

We will be revising all the elements of out topic of Materials and discussing all the different areas children have learnt.

PSHE

Children will continue to develop their understanding of what is a community and who are the people who help us in the community for e.g police officer, fire worker, lollipop lady, nurse, doctor, teacher etc..

Home work


Homework is sent home every Friday and should be promptly returned every Wednesday. Mathletics homework is also set weekly related to the concepts children are learning. Children can earn bronze, silver and gold certificates as they earn the points. Please check the back of your reading record for your child’s username and password.
Reading is very important and please enjoy reading a range of fun books as well as their reading books to promote a love for reading. Please remember to write a comment or sign your child’s reading record regularly. We appreciate your support to enable your child to be a fluent reader.
