LITERACY:

The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about how to read a story as a reader and then as a writer this week and have been working on collecting our ‘ingredients’ for a great story in year four. This week we will be using these ‘ingredients’ to write our own class texts of the Great Kapok Tree.

If you would like to talk to your child about this story or indeed another story by Lynn Cherry we have started reading please see the links below.

MATHS:

We will be continuing our Multiplication and division unit. Having focused on the 6,7 and 9 times tables last week, we are now moving on to 11 and 12 times tables, multiplying 3 single digit numbers and then factor pairs. There are many good websites to support your child’s learning in Maths such as Topmarks. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/multiplication-and-division

We will be continuing our Rain forest topic alongside our Science, R.E, P.S.H.E, French and I.C.T learning this week.

This week’s homework: Due in Friday, 2nd February 2018. We were very fortunately to have an interesting visitor-Tim Rodgers-come to speak to year 4 last week to teach the children about internet safety. This week I would like you to write a letter to Tim sharing all the information you have learnt. In addition, bonus marbles will be given for those children continuing to support their Maths work on Mathletics. Children’s passwords and user names remain the same as in year 3 and have been attached to your child’s  homework.

IMPORTANT DATES:

5th – 9th February 2018 – Online safety week

9th February 2018 – Last day of Spring 1 term

19th February 2018 – Children return to school for Spring 2 term
