Southwark Class Weekly News

In Southwark  Class this week our learning will be as follows;

  • In Mathematics we will be working on finding the perimeter of a shape using a grid to help as well as finding the perimeter of a rectangle or rectilinear shape by measuring or using already known information. We will be returning to our mental maths work and will be aiming to achieve our 100 and 144 club certificates by demonstrating we know all the multiplication and division facts to 12×12(A key objective in year 4).
  • In English, we are focusing on telling stories from different viewpoints using the advert and short story Coming Home as our inspiration. We will be beginning a new book-The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry
  • In reading we will be reading regularly in small guided groups and doing follow up and preparation activities to support progression with reading comprehension.
  • In topic time we have just started to enjoy learning about the rain forest. This week we will be focusing on identifying the location of the world’s rain forests and discovering more about the animals living in the different layers of the rain forest.
