English

We will continue our focus story – The Lonely Beast by Chris Judge. Children have enjoyed making predictions, questioning as well as reading the story.

Children will become authors – they will make a story map, write the story with a beginning, middle and end and edit their work.

Maths

Children will be learning about Measure: Length: tall and short (taller than, tallest, short, shorter than, shortest). Long and short (longer than, longest, short, shorter than, shortest). Children will be using non- standard units ( cubes, paper clips..) and standard units ( cm, metres). And also Weight- heavy and light ( heavier than, heaviest, lighter than, lightest). Children will be learning the appropriate mathematical vocabulary and using them in a fun and exciting way with practical resources.

Science
Children will begin to learn about the different types of materials – metal, plastic, fabric, glass, wood, paper etc…They will sort materials into groups on the basis of their properties and begin to distinguish between an object and material from which it is made.

ICT
During ICT sessions, we will be learning to use technology purposefully to create, organise store and retrieve digital content-log on, type name and surname, change font, size, colour and type a sentence using capital letter, space and full stop. Children will watch Hector’s world.

PSHE
We will discuss in class about-‘ People who help us’ at home, in school and in our community.

R.E

Children will be developing their awareness of different relegions and focusing on learning about Christianity. They will learn about how Christians celebrate Christmas and the traditions and customs they follow.

Art:
Children will be making some Christmas decorations using different media.

Phonics
Please continue to practice sound recognition with your child. Encourage them to apply their phonic knowledge every time you read or write with them.

Handwriting
We will be learning to form the numbers correctly and begin to learn the cursive script starting with the letters c, a, o, d, g. as well as numbers.

Homework
Please support your child to make a poster about Christianity
Please hand it in by Wednesday 11th December 2019
