This week we will be covering the following learning objectives in:

Writing

We will be choosing and story mapping one of the films we watched last week to plan and write a film review.

Phonics/ SPaG

We are continuing to recap phase 5 alternative graphemes and spelling patterns. We will also be looking at how to spell high frequency words and improving simple sentences by adding adjectives and connectives.

We will be focusing on synonyms within our writing to make it more interesting.

Reading

Our class read is Pippi Longstocking. We will be thinking about what has happened so far in the story, making predictions about what might happen and clarifying new words and their meanings.

Maths

We will be looking at addition and subtraction.

We will be looking at adding and subtracting 10’s before we move on to adding and subtracting 1’s to 2-digit numbers crossing the 10’s boundary. We are also beginning to think about ways we can add and subtract two 2-digit numbers.

Just an aside: We DO NOT teach your children the column method for addition and subtraction when calculating. If you would like any tips or advice as to how we teach these strategies please just ask 🙂
