LITERACY:Focus Book: Frida Kahlo and her Animalitos by Monica Brown

MATHS: This week we will be reviewing aspects related to Composition of numbers:

  • Recognising 5 as a key ‘anchor’ in our number system.
  • Generalise about 1 more/1 less within and beyond 10

UW: To explore the culture, lannguage and festivals celebrated in Mexico, the birth place of Frida Kahlo

RHE: Transition and moving on- to express how they feel about moving to Year 1,  talking  about  worries or the things they are looking forward to about being in Year 1

PE:  Athletics

SUMMER TERM 2 TOPIC: Growing and Changing

ARTS WEEK 2022 – Frida Kahlo

LITERACY:Focus Book: Frida Kahlo and her Animalitos by Monica Brown

MATHS: This week we will be reviewing aspects related to Pattern in Number:

  • understanding of equivalence
  • distribute collections of objects into equal and unequal groups
  • sort models into those that contain odd and those that contain even numbers o

UW: To use artforms to demonstrate an understanding of different religious festivals explored and discussed this year. The children will create sculptures to demonstrate what they have learnt.

EAD: To explore the work of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and create a self portrait in the style of Kahlo. The children will also be immersed in music activities related to this theme during the week

PE:  reception Sports Day on Thursday 7th July from 10.30 – 11.30. The Friday PE lesson will focus on creative movement and dance related to Mexican culture in celebration of Arts week.
