Parents of children with additional learning needs, Mathletics now has only work for your child’s learning rather than work set by their chronological year group so should be accessible to them independently. Week Beginning 4th May

[dropshadowbox align=”none” effect=”lifted-both” width=”auto” height=”” background_color=”#f4f045″ border_width=”1″ border_color=”#dddddd” ]We are now entering our seventh week since school closed for most children. We can see from the work you have submitted that many children are in a routine and are doing some great learning. We also recognize that some families are finding this more difficult as time goes on. It is important that children continue to be in a routine and that they are doing learning they are proud of. Please don’t worry if your child can’t complete all of the work which we suggest. Remember that Friday is a bank holiday so you may want to do something different on that day.[/dropshadowbox]

This week our learning is as follows;

English

Spellings – learn the following spellings:  describe, mention, answer, appear, actually, extreme.

Children who are in Violet group (Waterloo) or Toy Story group (Blackfriars) for English should work on:  here, went, were, was, look, off.

Handwriting – Don’t forget that in school our target was handwriting. Handwriting in year 3 should be clear, joined and legible. Try copying out your spellings in your best handwriting. You can also use the following exercises to help you with your handwriting.

  • Day 2- Write the end of your story including your resolution of the problem and ending. Check your work carefully paying particular attention to spelling, punctuation and consistency of tense.
  • Day 3 and 4- Make a book. you can use one of the ideas in the link below or an idea of your own. Copy out your story in your best handwriting and use pictures to illustrate your story.

Don’t forget that you can scaffold children who find writing difficult by giving them key spellings and asking them to orally rehearse their sentences. Children who have the potential to be greater depth writers should be paying extra attention to editing and up-levelling their work and thinking about the effect of their sentences.

Reading – Children should follow the poetry reading lesson in the link below;

Children should continue to read regularly and try to read as wide a range of fiction and non-fiction as possible. They can use traditional books or e-books from one of the following sites:
