Writing
We will be moving on to our new topic in literacy next week. Our focus will be on a losing tale where a character loses a precious item. We will be using Julia Donalsdon’s story Monkey Puzzle as a stimulus for our writing.
Here is an example of a losing tale toolkit. We will be keeping the middle part of the story the same and the children will be using the toolkit to innovate their own prequel and ending.
Reading
We are still really enjoying Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White.
Maths
We will be finishing off looking at 3D shape before moving on to fractions works.
The children will be consolidating and making links between equal and unequal groups (which we covered when we looked at multiplication & division) before investigating halves and quarters. There is a big emphasis on linking the parts of fractions to the whole.
We will be using lots of different representations including arrays and shapes but the children will also need to understand fractions of amounts.
PSHE

Hungerford Bridge have really enjoyed learning about shape this week. Here are some photos of the 2d shapes we made on a geobaord using elastic bands! We will be spending one more week on shape. Our learning objectives next week are:
- Making patterns with 2d shapes.
- Counting the faces, edges and vertices on 3d shapes.
- Sorting 3d shapes.
