LITERACY

Book Focus: Stickman by Julia Donaldson.

The children will be delighted to read this heart-warming, Christmas themed story about a stick family who await their father’s return. Phonics: Assisted blending to decode cvc words. Please continue to practise daily decoding.

MATHS: Sorting and comparing groups of objects. Key vocabulary: more, fewer, the same

Expressive Arts and Design: The children have been practising well for their musical performance to you on Tuesday. Also, this week they will be creating and making a range of Christmas related crafts in the creative areas of the classroom. [/dropshadowbox]

Celebrations

We have been learning about different kinds of celebrations. Can you talk to your adult at home and find out which celebrations are important in your family and what you do when you celebrate eg: birthdays, Christmas, etc. You could draw a picture or find pictures of different celebrations. Please use your phonic knowledge to write a label for your pictures

READING BOOKS

Please read with your child and write a comment in the yellow reading diary. Please keep both reading books and yellow diary in your child’s bookbag after each reading.

Tuesday 10th December: Reception Christmas performance to parents 9.30am in the main school hall.

Friday, 13th December 2018: Christmas Jumper Day and Christmas lunch for children. Children may wear a Christmas jumper over their usual school uniform (school dress or school shirt and school trousers)

Wednesday, 18th December: Class Christmas party in the afternoon. Children may wear their own clothes to school

Thursday, 19th December: Last day of term for children.
