Week beginning 10th February 2020

A huge well done to all the helpers -both adults and children- for all of your support at the Spring Fayre last Friday. Tyler announced in assembly that they managed to raise a huge £512.06 profit! That’s incredible!

Just a reminder that Miss Handley will be teaching Maths in both Year 6 classes and Miss Blackford will be teaching both classes’ English lessons.

Maths – This week’s maths learning objectives are to:

  • transform and rotate shapes across four quadrants.

English – This week, we shall be continuing with our narrative unit. We shall building appropriate figurative language through a clip from Holes, to build setting description; then, we shall be writing and editing a substitution story based on our innovated character’s arrival to the infamous Camp Green Lake!

Science – As part of our unit on Animals, including humans, over the next few lessons we shall be writing an explanation text on the circulatory system.

PE – On Tuesday this week, we shall have gymnastics. During our second lesson this week (Thursday for Tower and Friday for QE2) we shall be continuing with our boxercise sessions.

Reading – We shall be continuing to read our class text, Holes. We shall be completing activities based on improving our explanation, retrieval and interpretation skills.

Geography – This term, we will be learning all about Scandinavia. This week’s learning objectives are:

• To explore the physical features of Norway
• To create maps using a key

SPAG – We shall be focusing on revising some of the key Year 6 grammar across our English sessions and with Miss Blackford this week. We shall also be looking at words containing the letter string ough in our spelling sessions.
