Key Information:

  • A wide selection of quality books have been purchased for this class this year and your child is encouraged to take home a book every day. Each time you sign to show your child has read at home, they will receive a marble towards their team jar. The team with the most marbles at the end of the week will be crown team of the week!
  • Homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Friday unless stated otherwise on the homework (A longer time will be set for projects)
  • Spellings will be learnt at school and tested on Mondays. Please click on link: school-links-spellingjournalyear4southwark-1
  • In your child’s homework diary, they will have a green stamp at the end of each day to show they are following our school’s ‘Good to be Green’ behaviour policy. If they do not get a green stamp it is because they have not ended the day on a green card or have received a red card during the day. You will be notified by text if a red card consequence has occurred.

What are we learning this week?

Maths – This week we will be exploring factors and multiples and then assessing our progress with our multiplication and division unit..

English – To continue our Rainforest theme, this week we will be beginning to read and investigate the text-The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. Please feel free to follow along with us at the link below.

Science-We will be completing our unit on teeth and digestion by investigating the effect of sugar on the teeth and concluding which liquids effect the enamel most and therefore which liquids damage the enamel.

I.C.T-We will be continuing our internet safety unit exploring online gaming

P.E-Both classes have been enjoying using scooter boards to improve their netball skills.

Congratulations to Southwark’s Crazy chickens team who earned 205 marbles this week. Bianca and Teddy who were our readers of the week and those children who got merit cards, Lucas, Sofia, William, Emiliana and Oscar from Southwark bridge class and Taylor and  from Millennium.

What are we learning this week?

Maths – This week we will be multiplying and dividing by 11 and 12 and multiplying 3 numbers.

English – We will be using a poem For Forest by Grace Nichols to start our term’s topic on Rainforest and Deforestation, comparing and contrasting other poems around the same theme.
