We are pleased to welcome your child to Waterloo Bridge class and are grateful for your help and support.

Recommended reading books for Year 3:

Best Books for Year 3 | Ages 7-8 | BooksForTopics

Expertly selected books for 7 and 8 year old children (lovereading4kids.co.uk)

Reading

Children are asked to read at home on a daily basis and their book should be brought to school each day. It is helpful if parents can comment regularly in their child’s Reading Record, particularly when their child has finished their book. Children are responsible for changing and selecting their own books in the morning.

Homework

Children will be given homework each Friday to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Children are also asked to learn spellings and times tables at home. They are responsible for recording their homework in their homework diary.

Other

Children are asked to bring to school a water bottle. They should have a waterproof coat when it is raining or the forecast is for rain.

Week Beginning 17th July 2017

July 14, 2017

In Waterloo Class our learning continues as we move towards the end of the school year.

  • In mathematics we will continue with our work on measure, learning to read scales accurately and convert units of measurement.
  • In English we will edit and up-level our recounts. We will continue to work on identifying verbs, nouns and adjectives.
  • In science we will play games using magnets.
  • In topic time we will concentrate on presenting out learning.

The children are looking forward to moving up to year 4 and their new teacher Miss Turpie enjoyed teaching them on Thursday afternoon. It has been a pleasure teaching Waterloo Bridge Class this year.

Week Beginning 10th July 2017

July 10, 2017
  • In Waterloo Bridge Class this week our learning will be as follows;
  • In mathematics we will revise our work on time and write a time story based on our visit to Fishbourne Roman Palace.
  • In English we will plan and write a recount of our visit to Fishbourne.
  • In our topic time we will consider what the Romans did for us looking at the positives and negatives of Roman Britain.
  • In RE we will look at the story of Rama and Sita and consider why it is important to Hindus.
  • In PE we will work on our netball skills.

Waterloo Bridge Class had a great day at Fishbourne Roman Palace on Friday. Well done to everyone who took part! The children also did a great performance of the song Like a Roman in singing assembly on Thursday.
