Well done to the children who are doing the Mathletic challenges. Homework is being set weekly after the school holidays and please support your child to complete them.

English: This week we will reading a text called ‘The Man on the Moon. The children will be making a story map and writing the story.

Maths

Please support your child to learn days of the week, months of the year and to tell the time – o’clock, half-past.

This week we will also be learning about money – recognising coins and notes, play shopping games – Please support your child to make different amounts – 5p, 10p, 15p…

Science

We are learning about animals – naming and identifying  mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds.

We are also learning about the Solar System and facts about the Moon.

Also we continue our report about seasonal changes focusing on Winter.

PE

In P.E we are doing gymnastics and games.

PSHE

We are learning to keep safe on the roads and while crossing it. – The Green Cross Code

Art

We had a special visitor an artist  Ms Maria Azzini who showcasedg her space art and talked to children about how to create space pictures. We will use as settings to write our stories.

Home work
Homework is sent home every Friday and this week should be promptly returned on Wednesday please. Mathletics homework is also set weekly related to the concepts children are learning. Children can earn bronze, silver and gold certificates as they earn the points. Please check the back of your reading record for your child’s username and password.
Reading is very important and please enjoy reading a range of fun books as well as their reading books to promote a love for reading. Please remember to write a comment or sign your child’s reading record regularly. We appreciate your support to enable your child to be a fluent reader.

Children have settled into the routine and are enjoying the new learning challenges. Our new topic is called ‘Now you see me, Now you don’t’. Its about the Solar system, Moon and Moon landings – Neil Armstrong is our focus person of historical significance. Our Termly Learning overview is in your child’s Homework book if you need any more information.
