Week beginning 11th March

March 11, 2019

Thank you for all of your support with World Book Day. There were some fantastic costumes and books in boxes. You can see a wide selection of these displayed in the school hall!

Writing

The children had so many ideas for their alien booklets that we have only just finished writing them! Therefore, we will be starting our work on the losing tale Monkey Puzzle this week. Please see the blog post from last week for more information!

Maths

This week we are looking at length and height using cm and m. We will be using rulers and metre rules to measure accurately. Children need to understand that a metre is always longer than a cm because it is 100x bigger. They must remember to start measuring at 0. We will be ordering and comparing measurements before moving onto using the four calculations to problem solve with measure. For example Beth has 3 pieces of ribbon which are 30cm long. How long are her pieces of ribbon altogether?

 History

We are looking at the Race to Space.

Science

We will be continuing our work on plants.

PE

We are very lucky to Archbishop Tennison students working with us again this half term!

Maths

We will be using our knowledge of finding one quarter (dividing the whole into four equal parts) to find three quarters. Our final learning objective for our work on fractions will be to count in fractions. We will then be spending a day recapping calculating strategies before doing our shape assessment.

Our next unit will be measurement: length.
