Welcome to the new academic year. We would like to welcome you and your child to Year 3.

[dropshadowbox align=”none” effect=”lifted-both” width=”auto” height=”” background_color=”#ffffff” border_width=”1″ border_color=”#dddddd” ]Year 3 have settled well into Blackfriars class, we have spent the first few days getting to know the classroom and each other. We have began our English and Maths learning as well as establishing our rights and responsibilities and learning more about Blackfriars Bridge.[/dropshadowbox]

This week we learn:

  • In Maths we will be starting a unit on place value, understanding the value of each digit in a 3 digit number, using numbers up to 1000, and exploring 100 using a variety of representations.
  • In English we will introduce a new book following our topic on the stone age – ‘The Stone Age Boy’ and do our work based around the book.
  • In Science our topic this term is Forces and Magnets. This week we will learn about different forces, and what force is acting on an object.
  • In RE we will introduce Hinduism, and this week we will identify and consolidate what we already know about this religion.

Week beginning 16th July 2018

In Maths, we are going consolidate our mental maths strategies.

In English, we will complete writing our scripts for the television adverts and record them.

On Tuesday we will have our Arts Mark day so will prepare work on moving images as well as perform a song with Waterloo Class.

We break up for the summer holidays on 19th July 2018 at 3.30pm.

On behalf of Mrs Glenn, Mrs Edgeler and Mrs Tooze we would like to  thank you for your continued support throughout the year and we wish the children in Blackfriars a smooth transition to Year 4.
