LITERACY:

Book Focus: Owl Babies by Martin Wadell

The children will enjoy our shared reading of this classic tale about a family of beautiful owls. This week the children will learn to recall and retell the story through actions and by creating a class story map. They will learn to use vocabulary such as ‘First, Then, Next, Last’ or ‘At the end’.

MATHS:

This week’s maths learning will focus on recognising and ordering numbers to 10. They will also learn the names of some 3D shapes and learn to recognise these shapes in the environment.

TOPIC – Knowledge and Understanding of the World:

We will be talking about the four seasons and the changes to the environment as the seasons change. We will handle and explore some of the natural objects which can be found during autumn such as conkers, acorns, dried leaves and twigs.

HOMEWORK:

Can you find and draw pictures of different objects around your home which have a 2D shape eg. square, triangle, rectangle, circle, etc.

HERE’S HOW YOU COULD HELP US:

• The doors to Reception will be opened by staff at 8.50am and again at 3.30pm. Please help us by waiting for the doors to be opened by staff. This is to ensure the safety of all our children.

• Please keep the class doorway area clear as you drop off your child so that other children arriving after you may enter the classroom too.

• Please avoid blocking the hallway with baby buggies as this is a very busy area in the mornings.

• Please return any outstanding documents from your New to Reception pack by handing it to one of the Chelsea Class Staff. [/dropshadowbox]
